  • City of Nedland's Urban Forest Strategy

    In partnership with Arbor Carbon and Good Canopy Company, Grafted Studio is helping to develop a revised urban forest strategy for the City. The strategy will be based on extensive community consultation and best practice data capture to identify urban heat islands, canopy cover, and urban forest health. Our team’s evidence-based approach will identify key gaps and opportunities to protect, retain and enhance the urban forest.

  • Town of Port Hedland POS and Greening Strategy

    Grafted Studio partnered with Realm Studio and Yurra to revise the Town’s Public Open Space strategy and develop a greening strategy and street tree masterplan. The team worked closely with community and cultural partners to respond to Port Hedland’s challenging climate and remote context, shaping open spaces and streets that deliver amenity, cultural value, environmental benefits, and greater resilience to climate change.

  • Plain Street Masterplan

    Grafted Studio partnered with Hames Sharley to support the City of Perth in developing a masterplan for the Perth Tattersall Bowling Club site and surrounding parklands. Through close engagement with City staff and stakeholders, the team shaped a framework that guided the site’s future development and created a more open, connected and distinctive place for recreation and social gathering in East Perth.

  • City of Armadale Urban Forest Strategy

    Grafted Studio, in partnership with Good Canopy Company are working with the City of Armadale to renew their existing urban forest strategy. Our teams experience in urban tree management through research, strategy, policy, delivery, and evaluation phases will ensure the new strategy will provide best practice urban forestry and urban greening approaches.

  • Hyde Park Reference Group

    Grafted Studio was appointed by the City of Vincent to the Hyde Park Reference Group. Our role was to provide specialist landscape architecture and arboricultural inputs to support the restoration of tree canopy and associated plantings post Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer treatment and removal works.

    Our inputs focused upon balancing conservation and protection, ecological restoration, functional use, and the desire to integrate traditional owners’ cultural elements.

  • Department of Communities Landscape Guidelines

    Grafted Studio partnered with Realm Studio to develop a Landscape Design Guidelines to enhance outcomes for landscapes within single residential, grouped housing, and multi-residential projects across Perth and Western Australia (WA).

    The guidelines provide a simple and coherent document that provides the department and its building partners with clear direction and primary controls to design, construct, and maintain landscapes.

    The guidelines outline the integration of landscape with built form for enhanced presentation, maintenance, safety, and useability for residents. The guidelines also include requirements for tree planting and provision of shade, connection to nature, universal accessibility, and opportunities for residents to socialise and recreate in outdoor spaces.

  • Curtin University Mallokup Design Brief

    Grafted Studio worked with Curtin University to reimagine the Mallokup space and develop a design brief responding to the removal of several significant PSHB‑affected trees. The brief set out a clear roadmap for reshaping the site and guiding long‑term PSHB management. Deep engagement with the Centre for Indigenous Studies shaped a culturally informed narrative that honoured, strengthened, and extended the existing songlines across the campus.

  • Fremantle Arts Centre Planting Masterplan

    The Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre (FAC) is one of the City of Fremantle’s most valued cultural and community places, recognised for its architectural, social and landscape heritage. Grafted Studio worked with the City and FAC staff through a series of engagement sessions to strengthen the site’s visual appeal, functionality, climate resilience and heritage expression. The resulting Planting Masterplan provided clear strategic direction to help the site balance increasing pressures from intensified use, evolving functions and aging infrastructure.

  • East Fremantle Residence

    Grafted Studio worked with the client to design a landscape that honoured and protected the existing Tuarts and Lemon‑scented gums on site. Through close collaboration, the team navigated level changes, limestone caprock and the need for tree‑sensitive construction methods around the proposed dwelling and walls. A diverse palette of native and Mediterranean species was selected to strengthen the site’s character and sense of place.

  • Neighbourhood Design - Capacity for Trees

    Grafted Studio partnered with Hames Sharley to develop guidance for improving tree canopy outcomes in new developments. The team analysed recently completed greenfield sites to understand the barriers limiting tree canopy, and worked closely with planning, utility, roads and engineering stakeholders to shape practical, shared solutions. The resulting guidance highlighted best‑practice precedents for integrating trees into new neighbourhoods and provided clear advice on tree physiology and species selection to support long‑term tree health.

  • City of Armadale Street Tree Audit

    Grafted Studio was engaged by the City of Armadale to audit previously collected street‑tree data through a detailed review of randomly sampled on‑site assessments. We evaluated the accuracy and consistency of the dataset, identified discrepancies, and provided clear recommendations to strengthen future street‑tree selection, documentation and installation practices.
